Make Your Desk a Speakerphone!!

Hi,
I’m making an iPhone app which involves the user entering text and flicking checkboxes. How do I get these to save/remain as they were left, when the user exits the app? Could you give me quite a bit of detail as to where I put the file as I’m new at this.
