My daughter is 20 months old now and has a bottle of mil before bed, but at what age do they usually stop?

  1. well i havent had kids coz im only 17…but i left the bottle when i was 8 years..lol

  2. Ooooooo dangerous, the bottle nazi’s will be out to get you now. My son is 15 months and still has his at bedtime and i will continue doing it until he doesn’t want it anymore. I don’t let him fall asleep with it.

  3. well i’m 15 and I still have a glass of milk before bed.. i gues it’s just calming? lol

  4. There is not really a specific age that they need to stop by. Just give her time and she will eventually not want it anymore. It actually helps them develop eye – hand coordination if you are having her hold it on her own. Same thing with crawling. The longer they do it, the stronger the coordination will become and there is talk that this coordination actually has to do with their intelligence level later in life because they develop those early skills and connections in their brains. So don’t rush her, she’ll be ready at some point.

  5. I let my son have his bottle till he was at least 3. He never wanted it in the day, so I personally don’t think it matters. as long as it comforts her I don’t see the problem besides it is a good way to make sure they drink milk!!

  6. I stopped bottles when both my sons were a year old, but they continue to have a glass of milk, but not right before bed, at a set time around an hour or two before bed.

My 18 month old still has his. I plan on giving them to Santa this year in return for presents :)

I wouldn’t panic, he won’t have them forever, he’ll let you know when he doesn’t want/need it.

My daughter is nearly 3 and has only just stopped taking a drink to bed with her, she stopped using bottles long ago but always took a beaker of milk to bed with her – milk is good for them so I never saw a problem and it never leaked as in a sealed beaker.

Only recently stopped as she is out of nappies now so too much liquid on a night would mean a wet bed…

  10. I swapped my daughter from bottle to milk in a sealed juice cup at about 15 months, then at about 22 months changed to weak juice. Shes nearly three and still takes a drink to bed but puts it on her bedside table so if shes thirsty in the night she can have a drink. didn’t push her, it was just natural progression. I still take a drink of water to bed with me every night so would never deprieve her of a drink.
